Hey guys

I'm thinking of doing a local search (my country of course). I found a keyword that has like 3 words in it so basically long tail.

But I'm not sure of the search volume, usually we look for 1000 searches but what about local searches of around 400? (currently) or should find higher ones.

It depends.

For some niches, like real estate and expensive properties, low search volume is ok bc you make it up in one sale.

So it depends on what you're selling.

It's in the food industry locally, but I'll probably do more research on it.. But generally what do you think would be a good amount for long tail local searches?

With all the big sites competing for expensive food kw's I think you'll definitely need to target long tails.

I understand that for sure, so in general what search volume would you find reasonable for long tail LOCAL results

If you are building a whole site around a 400/month keyword... it won't be really worthy. It will probably be way cheaper and more effective to focus on a GMB listing and pay for some good citations.
Although you can buy a site with good schema info to highly correlate with the GMB listing.

Check the top results in the serps and read this:

I see, so I refined my search and I found a certain snack in my country and I feel like creating a website with blog revolving around that.. Then I'll add ads and products related to that etc... I'm wondering if it's worth it. Search volume is 1000+ so definitely getting searches..

It's not really a business, so its more like a certain food/product and then write on it...

Find your competitors, enter them on ahrefs or order a ahrefs report from someone here, and get precise data on all kw's and volumes. No need to guess.

Search volume is always off, especially with local keywords. I get 2-3X the impressions per month compared to what the tools tell me, in most cases.

Try to rank the same page for other local longtail keywords too. Say you are targeting "New City hair saloons". Also target "New City hair dressers", "NYC hair saloons", "New City beauty saloons" and so on.
