I'll write this up fully this week 
Always find these new stats and case studies (been done by the big guys as well) charming, yet not effective for the competitive niches we're in.
It MIGHT have 1% effect, but not coming close to backlinks that for sure. Same goes for the theory of google assessing actual traffic from links in my opinion.

I tried crowdsearch.me and serpclix for a few months, second month was accidental because I forgot to turn it off :/ But anyway, they both did fuck all for rankings on any keywords, not to mention were particularly buggy (one of them anyway), and kept clicking back to the SERPs after it was done on my site, then to a competitors. I complained about it and was credited some, but still... it did nothing for rankings anyway so its not like it mattered.
