little help

I had my site ranked on the second page for main keyword, I started adding backlinks with social bookmarking to about 300 sites and blog comment spamming. Now I completely dropped off google for my #1 keyword but still remain for some other keywords, any ideas of whats going on?

It might be a penalty, but It might just be the dance. Who's to say your competitors didn't get 200 more backlinks?

In my experience if you see a drop off, the worst thing you can do is fight back with more links. Let it rest for a week or two then build a few links with your keyword in a longer sentence. Aka not Bingo Wings, but Big Fat Juicy Bingo Wings.

You probably got your links too fast. If you just go out and start bookmarking 100s of sites and placing comments with your site's link all over all of a sudden, Google will see this as a red flag and most likely penalize your site.

eh, probably a penalty. I dont see how I could go from page 2 to being nowhere. anything I can do now?

I would re-create what you were working on and then maybe be a little more cautious this time or move onto another promotion.
