Little help about subdomains

I need some assistance regarding my site. If i make a subdomain like buy.example.com is it the same as example.com/buy? Because i have a subdomain and when i type that same subdomain name like example.com/buy it shows the exact same content as my subdomain

Yeah I think I have but just to clarify will it show as dupe content?

It isn't duplicated information, both versions of the URL go to the same location.

Basically when you create the sub-domain by default it will create one directory inside the document root. Hence if you try to browse either "example.com/buy" or buy.example.com you will get same content. However, in many web panel there is option to change the default location of sub-domain directory.
