Recently I've been doing some cold calling. I got shot down 99% of the time and didn't get to talk to anyone only the Secretary.
I had an idea and it worked a bit better.
I found out the name of the owner from doing a lookup on their company name. In the UK you can use companycheck. Co. Uk
After I have the name I call up and say:
Can I speak to so and so?
Who's calling?
It's me from my company - I sent a letter to so and so last week and I'm just following up.
(you haven't sent a letter, yet!)
When you get through to them you can say that you sent them a letter either regarding their seo, website or rep management.
When they say they haven't received anything you can just say:
Ah that's strange. Well it basically says blah blah.
If they seem slightly interested then you ask them for their email. Get this as it's usually their personal one not the office.
Send them an email explaining what your offering.
Call back a week later and talk some more. Try and convince them to set up a meeting. Because it's easier to sell in person!!
Hope it helps.
