I'm looking for a lite wordpress plugin for user stats and search engine referrals. Most of the plugins add several tracking javascript codes to the blog and create cookies.
CyStats was a good plugin, but it's not maintained anymore. It's outdated and does not work well with the latest version of WP.

I've been using Wassup Stats on a few blogs. It's not GA but I usually don't need to know anything other than general traffic and the search phrases that brought them to my site.

Wordpress offers a stat program which is called statpress. You can search for it to your word press admin panel and install it very easily. It also provides great stats including the search engine referrals.

I really like using newstatspresson my blogs.seems to work really well so far and quick.

beat me to it... I use new statpress (newstatpress is the actual name). it's very thorough and is not a resource hog. The original was abandoned and I don't know if it still is but then there was statpress reloaded and now new statpress. I run reloaded and new on all of my sites and it doesn't seem to have any affect on page load times.

The new statpress plugin seems nice. I'll check it out.
I have to see how much MySQL storage it consumes, wheter it stores the total visits of all times, the status of tracking javascripts and the use of cookie...
Right now the screenshots are promising, but I have to see it in action.

Just installed newstatpress plugin and got lots of php warnings in the control panel and also front-end. session_start problem, headers already sent, include problem, Invalid argument supplied for foreach()... The plugin is buggy !!!

The official wordpress.com stats plugin works via jetpack and it doesn't store anything on your own db. You can get this for your own blog hosted anywhere. That is minimum and much better stat service that I know of.

Try Jetpack. Connect to it to wordpress.com stats and you're good to go :::
