Today I found out something very strange.

Within last 2 weeks I listed 4 different items on ebay. All were BIN for 3-7 days.

And none of them was sold. I was wondering why I only got 5-7 views for each item, because the items were quite popular and other sellers got 20-30 views a day.

So I tried to search for my items, but they were not there. I typed the exact title in the search bar but my listing did not show up.

But they were still in "Active selling" in "My ebay", also when I click there on the listing it shows up, but NOT in search results, not even at last spot.

How is this even possible???

1. eBay has search algorithms so that if you're new, have low sellthrough rate, or get a high defect rate, they bury your listings. Thus I can list the exact same listing from two different eBay accts and one has 683 views and other has 15. (This is the reason why it's so hard to build an account if you get a few defects in the beginning)

2. off and on eBay has server issues where listings do not propagate between servers in a timely fashion.

often times depends on the account as said by toml, aged with good feedback always gets more views

I honestly don't think feedbacks matter anymore. It's all sellthrough and defect rate from what I've been fooling around with.

That is strange indeed, i mean i know ebay listings could take 24hours to become visible in search but not become visible at all and still you can view them normally in your account as listed that is weird

well, it is a new account. no defects and no feedback. I just listed an item for 3 or 5 days, it did not sell, listed next, did not sell. They all only got very few views. And none of them showed up in search results, neither if I searched from my account nor when I was logged out of my account.

So if with a new account they do not even show your listings in search then how could you ever get sales and feedback?

Maybe get someone with an aged account to list the item? See what happens.

I would be willing to try for you, if the item is legit.

I have almost the same problem.. I have listed quite a few items and they only have 4-10 views and they have been there for 3 days now... I have no idea how to get more views so I can sell them..

Is your account new also?

You can't start off by listing stuff that 800 other people are selling already because your listings will be totally buried. If your listing does not come within first 10 pages of a search than you will get virtually zero views. To build a strong account it takes months now where it used to take just weeks.

Well, this is in no way normal. I have a 3 days auction online and 2 days already have passed and my item is not even in search results. I switched to "newly listed" and it shows me an item from October at first position (!)

This is a joke or what? I did an auction instead of BIN now because auctions normally are higher ranked on last day, but no chance.
If ebay works like this now then I do not even bother using it further.

eBay is a pain to deal with. You got to spend some of your efforts building up your accounts or start selling those items that don't have many other sellers selling it. Kind of sucks because if you are the lower price you still end up with little exposure. I think the easy thing to do is sell something else that isn't filled with a bunch of sellers to get your account stronger. After you get there you only entered the battlefield. Then you'll at least get more sales, but still not as much as the top sellers whos been selling the product for some time.

Have you checked it lately? Any updates on this eBay mystery?

Still the same.

If I search for exact title or item number, I cannot find my item although it is still online and shown in "My Ebay". Also tried with other account, even with other IP, not in search results.

I have had that happen with my old account it seems sometimes you get lots of views and items sell and other times barely any views and nothing is selling could never figure out why that was going on but something to do with ebay screwing around.

Start playing with different categories and different keywords. Might get less traffic but at least you'll get some exposure.
