Yahoo answers scrape target specific niche/questions and you will be able to compile a list. Use content locker and build emails that way there is so many ways.

What niche are you looking to build a list in?
Personally I build all my lists via paid traffic sources.
Essentially the user lands on the landing/squeeze page where I capture their email. What then follows is either a funnel with additional paid offers or "whatever I've advertised on my landing page".
This is combined with a follow up sequence series in my autoresponder which is used to build trust and seller further products in the future.
This is essentially what list building is.
For paid traffic my main source is facebook paid ads.

A simple MMO method is offering a free guide/money making method in an ebook for example and then in the ebook a link to a "twist" method which can earn them extra (more) cash.
This link is to your squeeze page where you capture their email address and then send them to the "twist".

The fastest method is to scape the e-mails, but they wont be targeted.

I've tried to build out a list biulding funnel with facebook ads. While I was able to get opt ins at a cheap rate, I was unable to make money on the back end and break even. Ive put those efforts on hold for now.
