Linux is much more stable than windows. Use Windows if you want to offer ASP.net hosting to your customers.

Linux of course. CentOS x64 is my choice for all my servers and it's very stable.

Agreed, unless you are big into ASP or have some other specific Windows app that require a Windows server Linux is the better performer.

always go for Linux when hosting sites.. use windows only when you need a PC to run your seo tools

As per my experience, it doesn't make any difference if the windows server has been setup properly( which isn't the case most of the time). Windows servers are more vulnerable anyway. So i would suggest Linux if you are gonna use PHP. If you need classic ASP or ASP.NET, then the choice obviously is Windows. By the way, Windows servers should also be more expensive because they have to bear the cost of Operating System.
