Alright, before you start writing essays let me say that the title was probably a little far fetched.

I just found out today, that unless you use Chrome, Adobe will no longer support Flash updates for Linux.

Thought some of you mind find this interesting.

Well the thing about the linux community is... They will just do the updates themselves.
There are tons of community drivers and updates for things not intended for linux.

Linux will be around for the foreseeable future in my opinion. As long as people are using PHP to build websites, it will be here.

Now, Flash is being slowly killed off and good riddance! That unsemantic, security-nightmare software has it coming. Adobe announced that they would be pulling support for mobile Flash due to advances in HTML5. The more HTML5 gets spread the less Flash will be needed. I would guess that by 2022 (when CSS3 and HTML5 are scheduled to be the norm) that Flash will be on its way out.

Well, I think HTML 5 will be able to do almost everything flash can. Maybe wrong though, hopefully somebody can clarify.

For the most part it will. If you're interested, look up "HTML5 canvas." Pretty neat stuff already being done with it!

Next step get people to update stupid IE more often. IE in my opinion is what's slowing down HTML5 from going mainstream quicker. If Microsoft would just get people to update their shit. Then maybe we can be done with Flash once and for all.

Haha! Gosh, don't even get me started on IE. I just spent an extra four days on a client's site because of that stupid fucking browser. Luckily, the way I charge I didn't lose anything on it, but that's time I could have spent getting more clients.

what pisses me off about IE is that Microsoft KNOWS they built a crappy browser. Their knew commercials even make light of its notoriety. In my opinion, if you've built shit, just drop support, quit making more and apologize.

PS. Fuck trident (IE's rendering engine)
 
I would be more worried about Windows. Too many Linux servers to go away!
 
As a previous server engineer at several LARGE datacenters, and someone who as also worked a registrar. Linux is not going anywhere near away.

The statement it self sounds ridiculous. Perhaps, some flavors of Linux may die. Just as different versions of BSD have (BSDi).

Linux as a whole will continue to evolve, just as us animals do here on earth. Some flavors will survive, while some will die.
 
Why would Linux die because flash sucks? Try setting up a Windows web server with no licensing costs that uses 64Mb of RAM and let me know how that goes for you.
