Hey everyone,
I have a guy (outside of BHW) who's pitching me his proprietary link wheel method for $300. He would build me over 20 links on social media platforms using his fake accounts and creating this interconnected link wheel using Twitter, Pinterest, Reddit, youtube. Flickr, Video, etc...

He showed me two example sites and I can see on AHREFS that there's a nice bump in organic traffic (and keyword movements) all of a sudden about 5 months ago, with no bump in referring domains or links. Which is kind of strange because you would think AHREFS would pick up on the links coming in from social sites.

I barely see any service providers on blackhatworld that are utilizing social platforms for links. Why is that? I would find it strange that Google wouldn't take mentions on social platforms as ranking signals. Although, I do remember buying social media blasts back in 2010-2-15 with little to no results.

What are your thoughts?

if the PBNS where he got the links from block Ahrefs you will not see the RDs in Ahrefs.

Also, $300 for social media linkwheel is expensive IMO
I agree. He wants to give me my first package at $150 to show me how much it works.
Have you ever tried it before?

I'm not a fan of backlinking schemes.... well, I do like link pyramids but that's because they're effective. But all other schemes I don't really like. So, no, I haven't tested this. The last linkwheel I've personally built has been in 2014 I believe.... or 2013.... something like that. Since then, I've only stuck with pyramids :)

However, 20 social media links (even for $150) is still expensive, especially that the accounts where you get the links from are fake. Had they been real accounts at least you would have gotten some traffic, but otherwise 20 social media links means nothing. You get more than 20 links with any link building package in the BHW marketplace and many of those packages cost less than $80-$100 and you get some really good links in those packages anyway. Personally, I think you're getting ripped off, but what do I know? I'm not an SEO guru

That's about what the RYS guys charge for their linkwheel that has IFTTT integrated accounts. It works, but it's also something you could do yourself in a single day, so unless you're making more than 300$ a day, you might as well do it yourself.

You can find those "proprietary link wheels" on sites like Fiverr for a few bucks
