First let start this thread by saying, I own a link farm and do not want to get banned for trying to promote it. Yet, it is still self serving and I am not trying to violate the forum rules. A lot of people know me from Warrior Forum and that said, I will discuss this.

Backlinks and how important they are. Why you need them and if you lose a link, how bad does it effect your site. (The linked site)

This is basically for the newbies that are still not clear on what good is a backlink. I am pasting the defenition from WIKI in here....

Backlinks (or back-links [UK]) are incoming links to a website or web page. Inbound links were originally important (prior to the emergence of search engines) as a primary means of web navigation; today their significance lies in search engine optimization (SEO). The number of backlinks is one indication of the popularity or importance of that website or page (though other measures, such as http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PageRank, are likely to be more important). Outside of SEO, the backlinks of a webpage may be of significant personal, cultural or semantic interest: they indicate who is paying attention to that page.

Yet, this defenition does not tell you that that more links you have, the higher in the SERP'S you will be. It tells you you will be popular! Gee whiz, tell me something my 3 year old doen't already know!

It does not tell you the more backlinks you have, the more juice you get from their PR and the more juice or better known as bleed, you get the higher your PR will go. That is part one!

Part 2!!!! is a MIX of backlinks. Not just forum posts. Not just web sites. Not just social bookmarking. Not just one thing is the real answer! You need high PR links here and there. But if you think Google is stupid and you have 100 pr5 and up links and that is all, you are going in the SANDBOX my friend and you will stay there!!!!! Yes, you need high pr sotes. But, it is NOT natural to have nothing but high PR sites. You NEED to blend a mix in there... You need PR0 to PR10 (if possible) with articles and anchor text that is DIFFERENT!!!!! Not just hte smae old crap!

If you use the same old crap each and every time, I assure you your site will NEVER make page 2, forget page one!!!!!!!!! This is a problem that MANY make on linking....

let's talk about "black Hat" style links!!!! Everyone loves to put something there that no one really knows is a link... I mean Google sees it but, not the site owner usually. The mods are idiots and they have NO CLUE... So you want a free one that you might or moght not already know??? http://www.rankhigherwithseo.com There you go!

What are you blind! You do not see it? Come on now.... It is smiling in your face!!!!! Yes, the emotioncon!!!! The smiley is the backlink!!!!

I am just so tired of people pushing a WSO with their list to buy and you do the work. Your dumb as a rock if you think Google does not get that list too! You think they do not have a program that looks for the links in common for new sites on that LIST every month???? Yeah, and I am the pope! Please------

Better yet is the guys with the BOTS that post them for you! They bots are cool and I used them myself. I loved watching them do the work while I watch TV every night!

I would see the link go in. I would check it later. It was their yesterday and now the damn thing is gone!!!!! Oh boy, I am in deep problems now! Google saw that link yesterday as well. They saw those 175 links that are not there anymore. They still see the other 25 that are there but, they know my site is a spam site because, I lost so many links in one shot that it is not a normal site and it fits the spam site profile! Guess what and where you and your site go!!!!!

PLAY IN THE SANDBOX for a while you are not getting up in the SERP'S because, you want to screw around with the biggest search engine. Google does not like to be taken advantage of!!!!

If your site hits the SANDBOX, how much money are you going to make with it? How are you going to get the ORGANIC traffic that is the best highest converting traffic of all???? I will tell you this, hope you do not have rent or mortgage to pay becuase, you will be short big time!!!!!

So you have read my rant. You want good backlinks but your not sure where to get them still. Look in this forum and others for REAL HELP from some of hte WSO's and others posting answers. I cannot and will not just give away all my hard work. I will give you help and food for thought. I spend and spent to much of my own money making the mistakes you are currently making or have made. You have to make decisions who to trust is giving you good advice and who is giving you a line of JUNK....

Thanks for reading my rant and look for more in the future....

Nice post about PR. Getting links form sites with nice PR isn't as important as every one makes out. It's just as important, if not more (arguably) to get links from pages that have relevant content to your site and the keyterm your link is anchored under. But as this is alot more difficult to do than just finding blogs, forums etc with nice PR its often overlooked.

I am sorry that I missed these posts in this thread as I have been insane with my new site. Pretty much everyone has been there and I am not trying to get banned for promoting it on this thread. I am trying to get it listed as a service but, CLOSED for new at the moment....

Backlinks are a pain in the butt to get so I just built the most killer network around.... WHY? I need it and others I know wanted it. I also knew it would make a ton of money over time if I invested into it myself.... I built what is now known as link racer and this is going to be the ONLY way Google is going to like the links you give/get in the future now that PR is going to the turd....

Imagine this---- You want to get the word out in a press release but, all the sites that you submit to have a shit ton of spam all the time. Google sees it and hits your press release with the "also spam, until proven" tag.... Yes, there is one quite as it is kept!
    Now let's look at why?
Simple answer is the BOTS and Xrumer are killing the sites with spam on a regular basis and Google sees this. How, they see the link today and it is goone shortly thereafter... Come on, no one can be that stupid....can they???
When you have a bunch of sites that Google sees the links on and never has a spam link, you get massive authority points in that Google algorithm and it is truly deserved. So, that is what I built... My own private network that can kick your sites up the SERP ladder and hopefully into a real spot that you can hold on Page one.... If you keep using crap links, it will dro back down, but, the good ones will keep you hanging on a god long while!!!!

Now this is a LINK LESSON and I hope that you appreciate some free help! Throw some love around here!!!! LOL LOL LOL

Article directories (apart from GA and EZA) have very low SERP value as do Directory Links (except the $299 Yahoo Directory which gives a lot of impact).

All of my highest ranking sites, including #1 sites, have 0 backlinks from relevant sites.

Terry, so you are suggesting to just build as many backlinks no matter if they are related to your site or not?

    What methods do you suggest?

A good method I use is leaving comments on blogs where the links are followed by the SE's, I choose blog posts related to the keywords I'm are trying to rank for, I then add the keywords after my name so they appear as anchor text, without looking too spammy.

    Examples: Your Name (keyword/phrase)
    Your Name@keyword/phrase

I also find this brings me a bit of traffic from those blogs too, with it being realted to my keywords people decide to click through... Of course it helps if you leave a decent comment too.

You are correct and incorrect at the SAME time! Most directories are JUNK. Yet, you can use YARP and you can also keep them PRIVATE like mine and thus, the way I did them, Google seems to LOVE them! http://www.linkracer.com placements work wonders is all I can prove---

I still wonder why people are spending so much time trying to get spammy links and spam links and when you look at the hours and hours they are wasting when those links get knocked off, the harm they are doing to themselves--- It amazes me why you are not using http://www.linkracer.com that own there networks? I try to spread the love so to speak but, it is like beating you head on a wall----

The website topic does not matter, the page relevance does.

For example, if you create a profile on a completely unrelated topic that profile will be irrelevant. However, after you add your anchor text link the page then begins to become a bit more relevant to your keyword.

Additionally, once you add in a couple of sentences of related keywords the page becomes even more relevant.

I always try to get contextual links as I feel they hold more weight and that they make the pages more relevant (Regardless of how irrelevant the website topic is)
