links to avoid in 2014?

so far I've found few:

1. blog commenting
this work in my past few project but it's abit insecure. Seller offers low OB but who knows 1 day it may get flooded. Links strength get diluted.

2. directory and vid submission
I tried purely massive vid submission, nothing work. I tested the same with social signal, end up with an impressive result.

Advertise on BHW
I'd say there's still a place for all links. Plenty of case studies here on BHW prove just that.
Just make sure to use them right!
 
Blog commenting still work if you do it slow and related niche.
IMHO - Forum profiles, i believe should be avoided at all cost.
 
I would stay away from anything in the marketplace if I were setting up a real longterm business

Web 2.0
Link wheel
Link pyramid
Forum posting
Blog posting
Guest blog posting
 
forum profile links are already dead.better to avoid spam tier links too,as google is watching ,and they are updating the algo regular basis.
 
It is best to build no links.
Build it and they will come.
 
These days any links thats not surrounded by content (or at least a title) with your niche is considered a bad link IMHO. For example you have a car insurance website and you have a link inside a sports site, thats gonna be a bad link
 
I avoid guestbook linking because often the anchor text gets messed up and uses characters from other languages too.
 
all links still work fine but it should be from related niche, high pr, do not blast in single day, and make it tiered
 
In 2014, I've seen significant negative effects from posting from PBN sites that don't have super clean backlink profiles. I'm talking at least 50% branded and URL anchors and no sign of previous SEO being used on the site. Before it was all fine and dandy. If a site had PR5 and huge PA and DA everything was cool. Now its like you need to be squeaky clean or it can harm you.
 
Everything still works, for the most part. Just don't be an idiot.
 
It's all about diversity, if you have 100% guestbook, ofcourse it doesn't work. But you can throw a few of them in there aswell.

Quality is the key metric for 2014 and moving forward. Every type of link building tactic works as long as its on a quality website.
 
Any link has their value. In 2014, you need build link slowly and avoid any mass backlink.
