Links in old content isn't worth anything

I rank into this test the other day:

It shows an example where he placed new links within old content without getting any effect. Raising the question if links within crawled content should be avoided? Should we instead take a few minutes to update the post with a new section including the link?

Thanks for this info. I assume the thought is something along the lines of, "If you are constantly going in and adding links to your already indexed pages, you are trying in some way to use your already published content to keep ranking new keywords, thus manipulating the serps." So, if you do add or change a link here or there, it should naturally be for the benefit of your visitors, not seo.

Yes. The crawler will be able to identify that the link is new. SEs have cached copies of the pages and can easily compare. So there is not much value getting a new link.... The best thing to fake an old link is to replace an old link by yours o the page. In my opinion, it's better.

Really makes me wonder..if this is right, in-content networks that place links on old articles are doomed...

thats true,all my competitors using terry or linx boss lost their serps dramatically.Not to mention 3 of them were dominating whole niches.I think its time to go back to james martell.This is actually good because now noobs will be filtered out if they dont bother to learn and make efforts.

Quite difficult times to find good links nowadays....Most sites are crap sites with hundreds of OBL, you search for a "seo" blog it has posts for gucci bags, you buy a link when the blog is clean and after re-checking it you notice other 20 appeared and so on....
