I have been out of the SEO game for over a year and from what I can tell a lot has changed in my absence.

I think I have a good idea of what is working after reading through the forums but I would love to get everyone's opinions on this before I get back to work on SEO domination again.

If you could get any type of inbound links what would they be?

Social links?
Authority site links?
Web 2.0 links?
EDU links?
Guest Posts?
Directories?
Blog Comments?
All of the above?
Other?

Social Links seem to be incredibly powerful right now. And to be perfectly honest, I feel the amount of weight from links in Google+, in the profiles, in discussion and in the new Communities Feature, well, they seem to hold more weight than anything else right now. Otherwise, I'd say be incredibly protective of your money site, build protective Tiers around it, focusing on linking to them. Your Tier right below your money site could be Squidoo Lenses, Blogspot/Blogger Blogs, HubPages. Just ensure you aren't "over optimizing" now. Your link profile needs to look as organic as possible, so think "rough around the edges."

The big change I guess since you were in this game is that spammy backlinks are, well if not exctinct, they're highly endangered. There are still ways, and I recommend looking in to BuzzBundle or another Social Media automation program, as if you can own the Social Web, my experience is that you can enjoy the ride.
Good luck, and welcome back! :)

Thanks a lot for the response and info. Sounds like I am on the right path and I actually like the fact that spammy links are done (or close to done) as that actually gets rid of a lot of the competition. :)
