Links from your blog to homepage?

So I update my blog once or twice per week, and I was wondering how often would be safe to use my main keywords to link back to my homepage?

A month or so a good I was hit with a -50 and I think it was because I am a newb and I was linking every blog post to my home page using 3 or 5 main keywords.

I removed them and around 2 weeks later I was back in the game. So I am a bit timid to do to many.

Are you referring to 2.0 blogs? Or are you actually talking about internal links? 3 or 5 kws won't be a problem it depend on how many backlinks you are creating.

Sorry let me clarify. My site is WP site static home page. Adding posts for content, linking the posts to the homepage.

What I want to know is how many links can I have to the homepage vs other pages in the site.
