links from newspapers how effective?

how effective do you consider do-follow links from newspapers with good da values, low spamscore etc.?

link embedded in a thematic text environment suitable for the target page.

what are your experiences here? is it worth it?

especially if you are in a niche and see no more possibilities to get suitable links from the niche?

i am curious about your answers.

The reason why you'd be interested in links from newspapers is for the authority. You always want to link to "good neighborhoods" and it doesn't get a lot better than a high authority newspaper. Is it going to bring a boatload of traffic.. well that's hit and miss but from an authoritative point of view.. I would never turn down a link from a newspaper that has good metrics.

All in all I would say.. yes they are worth it but with this caveat.. check their metrics before committing.
 
The fact that it is a newspaper isn't really relevant, there are plenty of low-quality newspaper sites that won't do much for your rankings.

If it's a high authority domain and has a decent level of traffic then yes, I would always take a link like this. The fact that it is a newspaper is a bonus and gives some added authority.

It can work well in terms of driving traffic. But to get into the top tier newspapers, you need to have the right angle to pitch to journos.

In super competitive niches, if there are no other link strategies that could be used, sometimes paid links may be the only alternative.

my own personal experience, it is very effective from news papers with good metrics and having the same IP in the same country as the money site. also, make sure you don't use the same article in different news papers sites.
