Links don't count for SERPs anymore.

"I tell you what, since you are a SEO pro that has been doing that for over 15 years (before Google was born, I guess you were doing SEO on AltaVista then?)"

priceless

...I have done a linking program using a specific term as anchor text and it has not been enough to move me into the top 1000 for the search term.

All the things you say work, have shown me THROUGH EXPERIENCE to be BS - Hence the NBS in my domain name.

I have done the "thousands of link" plans, Reciprocal linking, watched 3 and 4 way linking get sites banned, watched cross linking get sites banned, (A friend and client had a $170,000 a year income affiliate site system go down the tubes for cross linking. Along with her new home and car.
I have paid people to manually search out high PR sites and get links, to NO effect whatsoever.

It is not like I started doing this work when I setup nbs-seo.com
I have been servicing clients in SEO WebDesign and hosting for well over a decade.
I have come to my conclusions through trial and error, testing, analytic processes, and intensive study.
If there is a linking plan, it is most likely I have tried it.

If your interpretation of my metrics is at odds with mine, show me yours.
In this whole thread NOT ONE opposing member has presented anything but opinion and conjecture.

Can anyone point to ONE definitive study showing links having a positive affect on search positions.
Hell, at this point i will even take one a couple of years old.
If you can find one done since Caffeine I will give you a free year's professional hosting.

Others have said this and one in particular, Paul DeSousa, (pauldesousa (dot) co.za/pagerank-explained) wrote, Don't forget that this was in 2007. Since then Google has devalued links to an even greater extent.

I'm not sure what you mean by "thousands" of link plans. I don't think there are thousands of different ways to get backlinks although there a lot.

If you really have tried "thousands" of ways to get backlinks like you say you have and still failed, that doesn't mean backlinking doesn't work. It just means you are horrible at it.

You keep asking for studies about backlinks and anchor text, and I keep giving you one of the most famous examples with Adobe. If backlinks and anchor text did not influence rankings, then Adobe's Reader download page would not be ranking 1st for the term "click here" which has 3.3 billion competing pages(833 million in quotes).

Your site doesn't even rank in the top 100 for your main KW which is "seo results" according to your META data nor does it rank for similar relevant terms like seo consulting, seo consultation, search engine optimization, etc.

I would think clients would want the person they are paying for their SEO services to at least rank for their own keywords...

This thread is becoming pointless and a waste of BHW bandwidth.

If you want to rant about links being worthless and anything else, save it for your own blog or site.

If links didn't count anymore, there would have been havoc in the G serps... millions of sites dropping like flies.... thousands of webmasters taking to the forums in absolute panic.....

None of that happened.

Couldn't agree more. Wheres harro?

LOL BIG PINK TEXT DOES NOT MAKE YOU RIGHT.

IF anchor text is THE KEY, how do you explain away that there is NO difference between posting anchor text links for promotional reasons and posting anchor text links for a Google Bomb.

Do you not understand that Google is dead set against using ANY means of manipulating the search results other than relevance, and using links falls into that category?

Do you not understand that an anchor text link does not improve or contribue to the relevance of the topic?
It is the same as a meta tag, providing information about the page it links to.

Do you really think that ONLY anchor text links with the same text as the intended phrase count?

Do you not understand the implications of the Mayday update?

How do you dismiss the fact that Google told us to not bother about links?

How can you look at the TONS of evidence supporting the fact that links are irrelevant?

Sometimes you have to do outrageous things like color your text pink in hopes that when you read it you'll actually try to respond to the questions - rather than continue to spew unfounded and misguided 'SEO knowledge'.

It only pisses me off because people come here to learn and you have the nerve to post nonsensical gibberish with your evidence as 'Well Google said it was true!'

Reg-nbs-seo there is some value in what you are saying and yes links have less value.
Link development is still a major part of my seo campaigns. Once i have fixed all the onsite seo issues and the client has a content development plan, lets say 3 new pages a week, all i do is build links to those new pages and the old pages. pretty simple really.

This still works and for new sites also, i have one clients site only 8 months old and i have been doing seo for 4 months now. started with 150 visitors for the first month and now they are getting over 5000 unique visitors per month from organic keyword targeted traffic from Australia.

My strategy
1. internal linking keyword targeting to pages
2. link proximity high and within contextual area's
3. link velocity gradual and consistent
4. link diversity 10 styles
