Links buried in a pdf file

is there any value to having a link in a pdf document that is linked on a high pr site? So there is a PDF with links on it that I was thinking of trying to get my site added too and the link to that pdf is on a niche relevant pr 6 site. Does Google find any value in that? Or will the bots not follow a pdf and read links?

Google's spiders can read PDF files. Google views all quality content the same. It doesn't matter if its plain text, images, video, PDF ect... If it provides value to the user Google will count it as a link. By quality content, I mean long, boring and back by thousands of spammy links.
 
awesome thanks for help! quick followup. If I could actually land a link on a p9 relevant page would that one link jump me way up in the rankings.

my top competition is pr4 (i know this metric is easily gamed and not what it use to be)
 
Google can read and index PDF files. You will get more info from there. :)

Oh gawd. Is the link do-follow? Is it a public PDF submission site? It's not going to do a whole heap. You're going to need allot of good quality links to outrank a PR4 website.

No its a link on a college that is linking to similar sites as mine, Its pretty pie in the sky that I can actually land a link here and not planning on getting ahead of the pr4 right away but hoping I can get to the top 10 pages or so, I am buried on page 22 or so but actually getting some leads due to how big this market is.

maybe at the least it will get my measly site up to PR1 lol
