This is an elusive concept for me and I am still not sure whether linking to homepage from inner pages of the same website is a good thing or not so desired one. So, my question goes to all the SEO veterans, what is your take on it? Any experiences and achieved results are welcome.

Cross site linking is always a good idea, just don't go too crazy with it.
For example,
If you have a blog on Acai Berry and you mention a particular product you sell on your site, linking to an inner page or home page is fine. It's better to link to a relevant page using relevant anchor text though.

Yes, inter-linking is good SEO tactic used by the webmasters. It does helps in SEO but make sure to link relevant links and don't just point every word to some random link, make sure that the links are actually relevant to the keywords which are being used as anchor text.

What I usually do is I always put a link at the end of my article that goes something like "Learn more about the benefits of ___ by clicking Here". It brings them back to the home page with lots of other categories. It's kind of general but it has been working well for me so far.

Yeah you have to use both inner pages and homepage while implementing SEO techniques.

What would be the most effective way of interlinking visitors arriving at a blog page to the money page? Adding a banner at top and button of the blog pages?? Cheers

Any backlink that is not SPAM is a good backlink. Keep this in mind when building backlinks if it appears natural and is from your own website to help the visitor visit other parts of your website then it is a good link. Try to target different keywords for your domain name and rank the keywords high with lots of unique fresh content articles pointing to your main page.
