I'm concerned about making content rich articles for my site but I am not sure if it is better it re-write/spin a high ranking article or actually using article link in my post for backlinking. Which is more effective when trying to build page rank?
I am a little confused on what you are trying to do here... Depends on what you want to do. You can spin your article and create hundreds. It takes longer but writing one article you only get one article. Neither will help you build page rank. It will help in your Serps. Use get Article. Search "get article" here on the forum and there is a free version which will scrape articles for you. you just type in the keyword and it pulls articles from ezine etc.. I usually just take 3 or so articles and rewrite them into one. Then quick spin it and you are good to go. Not really readable but hey
