K so ive been link building for my domain for quite some days now and here are the methods I have used. Im listing them here so that people can also compare them with their check list and see what theyre missing.

    - Blog commenting

    - Articles

    - Social Bookmarking

    - link wheeling 4 to 5 web 2.0 sites

    - yahoo answers.

thats what i did and im out of ideas..

what else can i do along with the above mentioned methods that will get me good quality white hat links..

    1) Blog comments > Very highly recommended... One has to realise first that he.she has to post comments only in Do-Follow blogs and not No-follow
Getting links in No-follow will help you get traffic but will not help you get any link

    2) Forum Posting > Please make sure you dont spam any forum, you will get quality links from quality forums only if you dont spam and actually contribute...
Go to google and search for your niche + forums and try and find the best forums... make useful threads and place your links in your signature..

    3) Social Bookmarking> The lates and the best way to get high PR links.. just search the net for social sites and you will find tons of list.. now you will want to post to all of them ... OR what i use is onlywire that will reduce your work and help you automate the process...

4)EDU links > Very effective and very difficult to get, so try and get these from your friends or if you know someone in your family

    5) Flickr and Youtube > ie Images and Videos , these can get you some serious traffic and can get you some quality backlinks...

Also i forgot to mention make sure you always use your anchor text as your keyword and post your website link in the URL section...

Don't discount plain old boring old-school directory listings (using your keywords of course)

And RSS --- lots to be done with this!

And remember that fewer outgoing links from a domain is better -> worth more in trust.
Getting trust is better than high PR - will create a post on this some day :)

Create a blog on your own site if applicable and you have the time. If you have good content other may link to you themselves, as your site grows it could be seen more as an 'authority' site, and your internal links will have some weight.

Contact other webmasters/blogs in your niche and offer them free articles with your backlink in it.

If you have an RSS feed there are a ton of sites you can submit them to. Most are free and some require a free registration, like feedburner for example.

You could also try adding a forum. Oldenstylehats and the crew at BHZ have "Forum Generator" that creates a forum based on scraped content. I havn't used it long enough to see steady results, but it does seem to be contributing nicely to my off page seo.

If a site owner who has not posted many others' articles on their site agrees to it, it would probably be better than having 11 articles rather than 12 on the article site(s) you submit articles to.

You could always rewrite the article and do both for probably the best result, if you have the time.

What the hell to you mean "do not spam forums" there Anuj291?????? This is a blackhat forum there buddy. Yes don't put obvious post with 20 of your links in them, but by all means spam the shit out of the forums! And the no follow only applies to Google and that is really questionble. Monitor it in google webmaster tools. I have one site with 4500 backlinks according to google webmaster tools and all of those came from a forum spamming software I use. So I know most of those are no follow.
Another thing is neurolinker. They will get you quite a few backlinks like any link exchange site, but they have added a new social bookmarking area. Everyone that is a member goes and social bookmarks other members sites. It seems to be working great. They also have it for squidoo lens. Everyone goes and gives your lens a positive rank.
They also added a new blog thing. It is where you can put a blog up and it gets fresh articles from other members. Giving you fresh content. By doing this you get to post your articles and they show up on the other members blogs with your links. They do have this set up where your articles links don't get a no follow.

From there get some gov links. Type this query into Google

site:.gov 'Leave a Reply' 'Name "(required)"' 'Mail (will not be published) "(required)"' 'Website'

You can change it to edu to get more edu blogs.
Or you can use this site:
    http://seopositions.net/edu-blog-finder.html
And if your that concerned about the no follow tags then go to this site

    http://www.inlineseo.com/dofollowdiver/
All this I found on this site, so also search around here.

They're all ok but pretty old school and most have lost value (except link wheeling which still seems ok). Isn't Yahoo Answers nofollow as well? Guess it can bring traffic tho.

    Here are some alternatives -

    * Build a free wordpress theme with a nice anchor text link in it - everytime someone uses this theme you get a nice link and usually it's from a site somewhere in your niche.

You can also get links from the wordpress galleries which no doubt you'll be submitting to in order to get your theme out there.

    * CSS Galleries - if you've got good CSS there are well over 100 CSS Galleries you can submit to, most have a very good PR.

    * Similar to the wordpress theme - build a widget or plugin - gives you links back to your site from the people who use it and the sites that host it.

    * Submit a few PRs - There are a few good Free PR sites out there (some better paid ones too) - do something newsworthy, i.e. add a new section to your site and release a PR - gets links from the PR site and any bloggers/ journalists who write about it.

    * niche directories - Often work a little bet than general directories as they are ontopic.

These are just a few suggestions. While all the things you've mentioned are all good link building methods, they are the most common ones and so have lost a bit of value over the years.

Yeah do them but mix it up with a few of these ideas too just to make your link building a little more unique.

Might post some more ideas later if I have time

Ok I have 2 methods for you, number 1 I know works - the second is something I read and sounds like it might work, not tried it yet.

    1) Whitehat version: Write an article related to the keyword you're trying to rank for and host it on your site, make sure the article links to the page you want ranking (probably your homepage).

Then post your article as a story on lots of pligg websites using something like autopligg, or pay someone to do it for you if you don't want to fork out a large chunk of change.

Greyhat version: This is what I've always done and I know it works. Simply use autopligg to send pligg links directly to your site - this probably works better than the whitehat version because the links go straight to the page you're trying to rank. Doing this for a mid competitive keyword usually gets me ranked in the top 10 on google.co.uk.

    2) This is something I haven't tried, but sounds pretty cool.

Set up a links page on your domain and code it with 2 sections, a "random links" section at the top and a permanent links section below.

Go to google > type in your keyword and get the first 30 domains, write them down.

In your permanent links section just populate it with about 10 links to related sites in your niche (NOT ANY OF THE 30 YOU'VE WRITTEN DOWN)

In your random links section you want to put the 30 domains you wrote down, but have it so that on every page load it will only display 2 or 3 of the domains from your random list.

Right under the random links section you want a link that says something like "Is your website in the random links section? Want a permanent link? Click Here!" it should go to a simply 'submit link' form.

Now you're almost ready to get great links from the top ranking sites. You need to get hold of a fake traffic generator, preferably something that sits on your host ticking away.

Use it to send around 50 fake hits to your competitor sites daily and make sure to set the refering URL as your links page.

Your competitors will check their trafic stats from time to time and notice they're are getting quite a few visits from your links page - they'll go there to inspect it and see that they don't have any link on your site, they will assume the traffic they are getting is coming straight from the random links section.

Hopefully the first thing they will think is "I want a permanent link" and click that link to submit their link > but of course, they have to link to your website first before you approve them ;)

This way you get reciprocal links from the top ranking sites for your niche. Of course, if you wanted to you can always cloak your links page so that the links you put up never get seen by Google and thus it will look like a highly relevant on topic one way link from a website that already ranks well.

    3) Another method, even though I originally said 2. Just repeat what you've already done, but do it to all the other pages on your website. I do this when I run out of ideas and usually squeeze out another 2 or 3 higher positions.

I think this is completely wrong!
If you have much links at your start page, less link juice is drawn to every link, equal if it is an internal or external link. But you don't loose trust if you link out. That completely wrong.

If this would be true, no one would link out and the internet would die...

I have observed the opposite. If you have a very good link list, listing all trusted pages in your niche, this list can boost your ranking extremely!

great idea blackmamba, ive never used pligg sites before...

so is there any way to find all the pligg sites or better yet how to search for the "********" pligg sites in google?
