Linking Google Place + Website together?

I am wondering if its a good idea to link them together; while it seems to make sense (and what most businesses are doing), but now i think about it, it might be a bad idea afterall?

For example, if I have a site already on page 1; rank #2 (on top of GP box)
Now that I signed up for Google Place and linked them together, I became part of the GP group, and now ranked #4.

Suppose I develop a new landing page, use that to link to my GP (instead of my real site), I would be taking 2 spots on page 1 listing then?

Whats your opinion on this? Please advise. thanks

I do Local SEO personally for a company. I have seen local businesses listed on the 7 pack and organically on page one. Go to youtube and search for "David Milm". This guy interviewed some of the best local seo's and compiled their data.


You will find him talking on seomoz about the factors that are important for local seo. Your website is very important for local seo. If you are a local business your better off being in the 7pack then organically anyway for local traffic.


also check out a piece of software called "Places $cout" i think there is a request for it, its a hot product and really does the job for local seo.

dont link them as that is a no no with google, one places listing per site

keep them seperate and you should be fine

I am sorry but i am a little confused what you said
They are just same site; http://www.mydomain.com

Just wondering if I should have that site listed on google places as well, or should I make a separate landing page for it, so that my GP listing will occupy 1 spot, while my money site will occupy another, so total of 2.

We always link them together and have seen great results
