I just had an email land in my inbox (I believe from someone who’s on this forum :D) from “a big company” saying my account was on hold and that I needed to press on their link to restore it. Being curious I copied the link to see what it was and it looked like this: https://linkedin.com/slink?code=ejVhczfP (that’s not the actual link).

I then clicked on it, logged into my account (not a phishing link, I checked) and nothing happened, just got redirected to my Linkedin feed.

Question is, how is this guy earning money?

It still can be phishing: https://www.d3lab.net/when-phishing-runs-over-linkedin-short-url/

"...when users share urls longer than 26 characters, LinkedIn automatically shortens it once.
Short urls are available in short url form:
https://lnkd.in/aB-cDeFbut could also be invoked as:
https://www.linkedin.com/slink?code=aB-cDeF"

Don't click on any such links next time. Since you already did it and if you care about your account, i'd change the password asap and/or activate 2FA.
Good thing I used a burner account I had then, interesting. I think this is solved, thanks!
