Hi is it possible to use linkedin to scour my business leads? is it effective?

People are literally spamming it and making tons of money. You just need to be good at spamming them.

Or you can do organic approach, involve in the topic, grow your contact and talk with them, become expert and contact people who need your service. You can generate really good business from Linkedin.

linkdin is a professional place for job seeker , marketer also for news reader. you can use it for business purpose but it might be with paid way as far as i know. i am not professional but it said by all .

That's what LinkedIn was created for, I suppose)

In my view, spamming is not really effective when looking for serious deals, but developing your page with gradual increase in contacts and quality content is almost never missed by your target audience - provided that you offer something that they really need and can clearly explain it in your materials
 
LinkedIn is excellent, but try to be smart, don't spam, try to build relationships.
It can be a goldmine if you act professionally.
