LinkedIn connection invitations expire?

I'm aware of the fact people send connection requests and then, after some time, clear their pending requests.

But, I remember having like, 1k+ requests or close to that, people added me but I just left them there hangin'.

And now, the number is smaller day by day, now under 500 requests. Did I miss something?

Invitations sent to LinkedIn members and people who aren't LinkedIn members expire after six months. This allows LinkedIn to occasionally remove old invitations from the database for email addresses that don't appear to be active.

Makes perfect sense. That's why the number is falling down slowly.
