You should verify using your passport, as it’s a form of identification you own long term. If you verify with a business email and later stop using that email, it can become very inconvenient.

Using a genuine business email to verify LinkedIn is normal and usually has no issues.

I recently changed my personal email address to a corporate one. No issues arose, and the linking was successful. No additional checks were requested.
The only thing I’d like to note: if, for example, you have an unverified LinkedIn account and you link a corporate email, then try to create a Company Page, there's a 99.99% chance you'll be redirected to identity verification, and you may also need to verify the company. This is done via phone.
Verification is carried out through the Persona verification service. If your passport has a chip, you can use NFC on your phone to read it and complete verification. Alternatively, you can take a photo of your passport.
However, if for any reason you’re unable to pass verification (for example, your country’s passport is not accepted), even LinkedIn won’t be able to assist. Support will reply that they cannot help complete the verification process.
For instance, in my country, verification is currently unavailable, and even apps cannot be downloaded from the App Store.

I don’t have an chip-based passport. If I apply for one only for LinkedIn verification, is it worth it? Is the verification level the same for business email verification and chip-based passport verification, or is one stronger than the other?
Yes, it’s safe, LinkedIn doesn’t show your email publicly, and using a business/domain email is common and can even boost credibility.

You definitely should verify you account with Passport, ID verified accounts are solid, especially if one day you'd like to automate a little bit your LinkedIn. ID verified lasts, email verified are restricted (sometimes for life).

That’s how I’ve always verified bulk accounts on there, easier than going through gmails especially these days.
