Basically you need to be a person to have a profile, businesses have pages. If you're lucky they will let you rename your account, but most likely you'll get banned :/

My hr named the linkedin as hr business name. Now I submitted my passport for verification.

I agree. It's better to have a page for business. Because of the options provided for the business pages.

I swear I have seen LinkedIn accounts that were named after the businesses, not individual people. Is that not allowed now? Or was it ever?

They might also probably ask for trade license, tax certificate and/or any proof for business ownership. If your name is listed as the owner of the company it should be enough evidence.
