Hey, I am new to LinkedIn and I want to make it grow so that I get some authority and reach to some future clients.

How to do that? Can anyone help me by giving some tips about it?

Thanks in advance

In the initial stage, focus on connecting with people. Each week, LinkedIn allows you to send around 150–200 connection requests, use them consistently to grow your network. After that, share valuable content to build your personal brand and stay active with regular engagement.

Make sure to optimize your profile with a niche and value-driven headline, post regularly with insights and real-life experiences, comment on posts to gain more visibility, and connect with your target audience on a daily basis. Authority on LinkedIn is built on consistency, positioning, and engagement.

You're able to add connections blindly but you'll hit a weekly limit if you add too much. I'm at 500+ connections now.

Your task is, first, to write interesting posts about what you do, and second, to be as active as possible everywhere. Join groups, comment on posts, communicate with everyone.

Great question — growing a LinkedIn account from zero to authority takes a clear system. Here's exactly how to build real reach and attract clients:

PILLAR 1: Optimize Your Profile for Discovery
LinkedIn search works like Google — keywords matter.
- Headline: Don't write your job title. Write what you DO for people. "Helping [target audience] achieve [result]" works every time.
- About section: Use keywords your ideal client would type in search. Mention your niche 2-3 times naturally.
- Featured section: Pin your best post, a case study, or a link to your offer. This is prime real estate.

PILLAR 2: Content Strategy That Builds Authority
Post 3x per week with this content mix:
- 40% Educational (tips, how-tos, industry insights)
- 30% Personal story / experience (builds trust and relatability)
- 30% Opinions / takes (contrarian views get the most reach)

Always write for HUMANS first, algorithm second. Short paragraphs, one idea per line, strong hook in line 1.

PILLAR 3: Engagement = Growth Fuel
LinkedIn's algorithm measures "dwell time" and early engagement. The first 60-90 minutes after posting are critical.
- Reply to every comment within the first hour
- Comment on 10-15 posts daily in your niche (genuine, value-adding comments)
- Each comment acts as a mini-advertisement pointing back to your profile

PILLAR 4: Connection Strategy
- Target 2nd-degree connections in your niche — they're the warm sweet spot
- Send 15-20 targeted requests per day with a personalized note
- Follow industry hashtags so you show up in relevant feeds

PILLAR 5: Use LinkedIn Premium Features
LinkedIn Premium (Career or Business) gives you:
- "Who viewed your profile" — reach out to warm visitors directly
- InMail credits to message anyone, even outside your network
- Better search filters to find your exact target audience

Growth on LinkedIn is compounding. Consistent effort for 60-90 days builds authority that generates inbound leads on autopilot.

You need to be as natural and organic as possible when actively participating in LinkedIn. Post once a day, add everyone you can as friends within the limits, communicate with everyone, join groups, and engage in comments. Do this every day for six months, and you will see 100% results.

Stay active by posting useful content related to your niche and engage with others by commenting on their posts. Also connect with people in your industry and keep the profile fully optimized so it looks professional and trustworthy.

Oww, Thanks for the info learnt something new
to grow authority and reach on linkedIn in 2026, you must transition from
a "resume" mindset to a "landing page" and "community" mindset
like posting things that will help the community and solve their pain points?

Noted, Thanks

Same as other social media. Post about jobs, add connections, kind of things like that
Okay, Thanks

Increase your connections consistently each week to build a larger network. Engage with the people you’re connected with and regularly share content on your profile. Maintaining steady connection growth will help make your account more credible.

i grew mine by posting 2-3 times a week about stuff i actually know, and commenting meaningfully on others in my niche. slow start but clients started coming after 3 months.

That's exactly it — consistency + niche commenting is the real growth hack. 3 months sounds slow but those connections are way more valuable than bought followers.

@diamondigger great question, hope the thread helped!

Post useful content, use short form videos on a specific subject giving value and insights to your audience and connect with other people who might be interested in your business by sending them personalized messages and offer to solve their problems. Build reviews for free this way and once you have 10-20 reviews start charging for your products/services.
