In 3 months of hard work you can start and see results, but until than no. (If you have big competition even more). Free SEO takes time my friend.
 
You must have enough time to build links manually, blog commenting on high PR blogs, social shares, Web2.0.
Or
You must have some $$$$
Without these two you cant do SEO for your site.
 
You can do SEO with very little money but you have to be an expert and it is painfully slow without capital. My advice would be to look for an entry level job in SEO so you can learn the trade. Then once you understand how things work, use your own money to setup your own websites.
 
Get a great network of high quality tier 1 sites/profiles ready to be blasted. Work your way through all of the sites listed on "knowem.com". These are mostly profile links but will help with branding.

You don't need automated software. Work on getting quality links. If you are exhausted then try to work smarter not harder. A single high quality link is worth more than dozens of lower quality links.

Try to identify opportunities within your niche - there is no quick fix. It will take work...the minute you fire up something like GSA you risk ruining everything you worked hard to manually build.

Maybe take that time and energy and put it into something that will earn you money now, then you can put that money toward SEO.
 
I would do Fiverr gigs or something to generate some quick cash and then purchase some links to push your sites.
 
You can build web2.0s, they are free if you can write your own articles as well as guest posts etc through outreach.
 
All free software are just bullshit. You have to invest small amount of buck otherwise you would have to waste your all time..
 
I suggest you launch some gigs on fiverr what you know about manual link building and from there go with PPH,I hope you will earn money from there and then buy GSA. :)

Couldnt have said it better. Most spam software is just that - spam. If you'd be the only guy owning that software you're do great. But thousands of people do the same shit. So the sites you're posting to are spammed to death. Not just that but link life is below 2 months. In other words you have to keep redoing the same thing over and over so you don't loose your links. In turn this link loss/gain game gets you in google's crosshair's eventually.

Best way to build links manually requires first to have a good site. A site that is useful and all. Nobody wants to link to a crappy spammy site. Then, simply get in touch with people and establish relationships. You promote them, they promote you, etc. On top of that you have guest posting - many sites give you a link if you give them good content. There are many many ways to build links manually and aside from being a manual, time-consuming process they are by far better links than you will ever get from software. Not just that but a relationship is much better than just a link.
 
A good SEO software is a must for sure, so as soon as you generate some cash, invest in SEOmoz, majestic or ahrefs
 
manual link building if you don't have the cash now. Invest in tools later.
