Hello! I just have a few quick questions. When backlinking, do links posted on social networking sites (such as links in facebook status updates, or myyearbook autographs, or formspring walls, etc) count towards your page rank?

Also, fanpages on facebook can reap benefits from this too, correct? Longshot guess, but they recieve page ranks with google too, right?

Sorry for the noob questions- I'm just trying to expand- only ever worked with facebook, so i'm slowly learning & doing :) Thanks given to all useful answers!!! :)

All links are beneficial in some way, whether traffic or link juice or whatever. Don't worry about PR.

To me I use Facebook and Twitter mostly for traffic. It is still good to diversify your link in every type of platform and type of site whether is blogging or social media.

So any links within a social media platform will boost the performance of a site correct?
And will this also boost the performance of a fan page? I want my main fan page (pet related) to rank well on google/yahoo/etc for it's title. Once my fan page is doing extremely well (currently has 4k fans) I want to launch a website, store, and other things around it. Then of course linkbuilding for the site.

I just seek some guidance regarding all of this, step by step. However... Web design? Yeah i just DO NOT think thats going to get through to my brain LOL

    Yes, to your last post....
If you want to get a higher PR, you need to get backlinks from higher PR sites, preferably authority sites. It is better trying to get a PR4 backlink from a .edu than buying 10s of PR3 backlinks for over $200 i think....

    That's OK though - having nothing but d o f o l l o w links looks unnatural. Just build links baby! Don't worry so much about d o f o l l o w vs nofollow...

Sorry for the weird spacing, but BHW's filters **** it out otherwise...

I wouldn't try too hard get your facebook page ranked well in Google, if you're gonna launch a website later. You don't want to spend time and money building backlinks to both. Plus it could be detrimental.
