Hi everyone, say you're making a site with 10 articles. Then you make a link wheel with 10 web 2.0 properties. Will you be penalized if you use the same articles or is it safe? How important is it that you write new articles for each web 2.0 property?

It all depends on the keyword. In my experience, for easier keywords, it doesn't matter. We have had sites boost up with the same (or at least very similar) articles. And especially if it's multi-layered, it doesn't matter as much.

Link wheel leaves a huge footprint for google. Dont build it unless you know what you are doing.

After panda, the original contents for web 2.0 properties play an important role.

Read my thread below

Absolutely. I was about to post your link in this thread. What kind of keywords are you targeting? Perhaps my success with similar content is due to my targeting of easy keywords.

best to screw around with the pattern isnt it? try to make the links as random as usefully possible?

just post the links in random and make the article unique in every way, that'll make it work.

thanks everyone. i'm targeting long tail keywords that get under 30,000 searches per month. usually just a few thousand.

As long as the content is unique and good, I guess linkwheels are not as bad as others think. I haven't heard of clients being sandboxed for having a linkwheel done to their site.

If you are going to use duplicate content, you should use your competitor's content. This way you will be safe. Otherwise your WEB 2.0 properties may outrank your money site for longtail keywords.

Also be sure you create an open link wheel and, if you can, spin the article before posting. It will give your money site more link juice because your properties will be seen as more unique content.

Technically using your competitors content (unspun) is stealing. So make sure you won't get sued for copyright infrigement.

If your satellites outrank your money site, just redirect the juice using rel="canonical" and the money site will rank again.

Wow link wheel never knew that people still use them..

use good unique content for each web 2.0 for better long lasting results
