Hello

I finally have my two niche sites completed and am now starting to get some backlinks done.

Are web/link directories still worth pursuing? OR will they harm my ranking more than they will help?

There are a number of free web directories that are decent places to put contextual links on. The key is to 'case the joint' first, check out the pages/sections where your link should appear, to see if the page metrics (high TF, RD, DA/PA etc) are already there. Getting a number of branded links approved on these places, on that basis should be helpful to one's site.

what do you think about stumbleupon.com is it good to put your links on there

These have been useless since 2010, but people on this forums sitll seem fixated on these, as well as blog comments and web 2.0 blogs.

All the top SEOs have stopped using them a long time ago because they are links anybody can get in seconds, for free. Their value is next to nil

You can try business directories. But target only those having high DA. But most seo experts don't use today for backlinks.
