Link Spam Vs BLinking

They are both effective. It depends what you are using them for.
Creating manual backlinks is ideal for new sites (less than a few years old) - and you have control over where your links appear. So a handful of links can be very effective.
Link spamming (I guess you mean using software?) is also very effective. But if you want to go for a lot of links it is best to only do it on an aged domain. Also you don't have so much control over where your links appear so you may need more to achieve a similar effect.
As an example - I have two aged sites with similar content. I was targeting keywords with similar amounts of competition. On the first site I used manual back-linking and have got in the top 10 results with around 200 links.
On site 2, I used automated comment spamming - so far I have 2500 links and the site has just got into the top 10 results but is dancing about a bit.

good info, i do the exactly same things on my sites too
the first is what we are talking about but it has a tone of competition (adult)
The second site, that i do it close to yours,and i hit my local business first page (no competition with locals)
[ btw the links that u say are so low, i can do some thousands more, per day!
but im not penalized with the above.... ]
THE THING IS after i change the whole site it dis-appear,
And another question is "what happened all this time to my PR (1yr)"
i was for the first six months PR-2 after 0 , what happened? it happend
coz i stop the promoting or penalized ? but this does not effect my keywords!
~I was working on the site 6 months, the other 6 i ignore it a lot, to see the results!
And i have not see good results, thats why i change it!!
