Not sure if this should be in the white hat or black hat section. Moderator please move if appropriate.

I have a customer that is a web hosting company. They sell domains as well, and if one of their customers buys a domain but not any hosting for it, and doesn't point their dns anywhere else, they have a company parked page show up. This is just a single page saying, "Parked with so and so company"; has a few lines advertising their web hosting and dnr, and a link back to their homepage. They have tens of thousands of these parked pages since a lot of customers buy domains.

The customer was wondering if having a link back to their homepage does any good or bad in regards to SEO. I doubt that it does any good, since the link is on a parked page, and coming from their own server. But does it do any damage, or come off as spamish? The customer would like to keep the link on the parked page for practical purposes of advertising if a potential customer does come upon one of their landing pages.

    What do you guys think?
