Link Network Penalty

Suppose I have an SEO service business.I also do hosting and website design. If, i get footer credit link to all of my designed websites which are associate my hosting service. Now my question, is this type of link count as a link farm and my money site get the penalty by google?

Instead of a footer link on all pages, why not do a single homepage footer link instead?

It lessens the possibility of any penalty, and you get the most link juice. Win-win.
