Page authority would still transfer with a 301 regardless, but I'd suspect a sub-domain would be treated just as a typical page, and from there it would divide any juice internally amongst any links. I don't think it would be treated any less than a domain unless it was long winded and spammy looking (same rules apply for domains anyways), however I haven't researched anything to say otherwise.
Yes it will flow if you 301 redirect it. You'd be losing any page rankings though if your doing a wildcard redirect to only the home page of the subdomain.
If you got rankings for internal pages you care about then make sure to 301 redirect the old pages to the new pages. If you want to just redirect the whole site and point it to a new domain then you can go ahead and do that as well but don't expect to retain any rankings for anything other than the home page. Link juice will flow though (typically they say you'll retain 90-95%).
