an old but interesting article from 2009. may be news to some.
(wonder if all of this still works...)

How To View Private Facebook Profiles,

I?ve always had a penchant for finding flaws within supposedly secure systems. Those sort of activities got me into a lot of trouble in high school, and certainly banned from the high school computer lab once or twice.

Early last year I decided to join Facebook, and in doing so, I learned an intriguing fact about this fast-growing social network: Facebook profiles are usually private.

Figuring out how to view private Facebook profiles became a brief hobby of mine for a few months last year, so I?m going to share what I learned over those few months with MakeUseOf readers.

This is what Chuck Barris used to call "good schtuff!" (read about the gong show on wikipedia if you don't remember Chuck Barris, he's actually an interesting character.

And aside from the interesting angle on fbook, the article is an excellent reminder about some possible applications of basic human psychology and social engineering.

Sneaky Sneaky!

I've actually done this before. I haven't done it in a while though...

i thought there is some script shared... social engineering is great though.

You cannot view private profiles - that's why they are private. But try to become their friend on fb. If you can't do that, or you don’t want to waste your time you should try the faceves com.

They obviously have their profile set to private. For a reason, I'm sure.
