I just received an email from someone who asked me for link exchange by providing link back to my site from his Resources page. I checked out his site and he is ranking on 1st position for the main keyword he wanted me to use on one of my posts for link back to his site.

So I was wondering if this method actually works for ranking? Is it safe?

Would appreciate your suggestions. Thanks.

Not sure if he wants reciprocal or three way link exchange.

He wants me to place link for his website and in return he'll place my website link on his resources page on same website of his.

I see nothing bad in your case to exchange links.
You will get a profit to your website if the niche matches.

If its a quality website and in the same niche, you an try that, it won't affect you negatively.

I think it is dead because you do not know how many links there will be in the end. And of course everything depends on the website donor quality

It's ok, especially if it's niche related, you might only get some boost.

If the site is good you can try it once but place your as a contextual link don't give only a link in some place it is not good.

Also do not get more links like this if you do this method continuously may be you can get affect.

Yes this could work. But make sure the site you are linking too has good DA and traffic and low spam score. It is also paramount to make sure that it is relevant to your blog niche

yeah its good for your site, if its niche related backlinks

IMO it's not worth exchanging a contextual link for a link from the resource page

It's never worth it in the long run to artificially inflate backlinks, often the context isn't there and you lose out, context is so important to your backlinks, because of how backlinks are used. It's likeminded sites vouching for othersites of relevance, so, if you saw a wolf hanging out with sheep, you'd go " WTF?!?! " - well basically that same concept is what you do to any manual reviews or even algorithm filters ( as they don't see a reference and its now just a link to your site ).

SEO has alot of indirect aspects to be aware of, it's often why many claim something works, and when repeated, doesn't, because there was a lot more happening that wasn't being noticed. follow the data!
