link cloaking question

Okay, I am pretty much new to cloaking here, so please try to put it in common sentences.

So here is the question.

I want to promote cb products and I have checked out other competitors in my niche and what they did was : (lets say the niche is piano)

website ----> *when you hover on the link, it shows its redirecting to learn-piano-in-60days.info* -----> goes to clickbank landing page.

It doesn't really go to the middle site. What is this type of linkcloaking called and how do I set this up?

Also, I've read that this just requires me to buy the domain name but not hosting. Is that true?

Please help me figure this out.

Its simple its going to show you a different destination and it will take you to a different one. in simple words.

The way I do this is that I have one domain name and hosting account that I pay about $4 per month for.

I create subdomains through the cpanel and redirect the subdomain to my affiliate link. So when someone hovers over the link it would show something like: "playpiano.ask-ello.com"

Thank you ! And I can use any domain name right? I dont have to have it registered with hosting , right?

Can you share which hosting you use ? Also, since I am just redirecting it anyway do I have to get hosting? Actually what's the point of hosting (I am a noob here ,sry )

For this method you don't need hosting or a domain name. Using the javascript method will mean that when you hover your mouse over the link it will show that it points to, in this example, cnn. But the link itself when clicked will go to yahoo.

Using your own domain with subdirectories allows you to mask the referrer. So you would need to buy a domain and buy hosting. Then you set up a redirect on that domain that goes to the destination site, your referral link, or whatever.

So you write your link pointing to the appropriate redirect on your site. Using this method you can get clever, and track your clicks, or switch your referral link without having to change all the links you've already built.
