hi,

I have been building links for a ' find a gardener' site - ive written lots of articles on all aspects of gardening and fired them around a list of relative blogs and sites, with a variety of anchors going to a variety of different gardening trades - landscaping, design etc

my question is - wouldn't it make sense to have all these articles on a section of the gardening site - like our own blog, instead of trying to build backlinks from less authoritative sites?

as the client's site has more authority - than these smaller blogs and most of the sites - use each blog post as a way to kw rank for specific terms, thus using my link building budget to build links to the homepage only and maybe one or 2 power pages to increase trust

what are your thoughts?

That is indeed a very good question, I never thought about it like this before. I'm no expert but I'll give you my take on this.

Ideally, you need a diverse link profile from different sources. Lets say for example you own a tech company, then you'd love a link from techcrunch.com since it's an awesome authority in your niche. However, if you keep getting all your links from the same resource then the links would have diminishing returns.

Similarly, interlinking in between your posts and posting new ones and linking back to old ones is what you should be doing naturally, and yes it does help but you also need a healthy balance of off site links.

OP first thing dont share details about your niche and all that stuff.

This is an excellent question, Manage blog on your money site is super important and I would save the real quality content articles only to your website.
But we did not build the Google algorithm and link building is must key to rank up your website.

Write/buy article content that talking about your website and invites visitors to see your blog posts.
Don't think of it like its competitor content, Think about it as supporting articles.
