I had my blog wiped out from "1st page" to "nowhere" because of so called Fred update :(
However,
It taught me some lesson as i'd purchased ton of links back then.
Now i'm doing with a new blog in different niche from a month and i'd literally made just 12 forum backlinks out of which 7 are do-follow from my niche.
Its not even end of the month and i'm getting 10-20 daily users from google, so i'd learned few things which might help you people as well.

  • Check the DA, PA of the forum in which you're leaving your Do-folow Link. (This way google will find your links in less time)
  • Make your link in a way to make an important part in comment/post. (This way i'd survived 2 moderation and obtained high quality forums with DA 92 & 64)
  • Never target single page/Keyword (Just keep it look like natural).
  • Make 1 High quality Do-follow backlink a day or within two days regularly.
  • Cover up those Do-follow links with High-quality no-follow links.
  • Never use the username in more than one forum (just make it look like all different people with different discussion containing your website link)
Hope i'll reach to my milestone very soon. Its nice to share my experience with you people, You guys are amazing :)

Thanks for sharing, really! I'd add one more important thing here: diverse anchors. They should contain different types like naked urls, keyword anchors, branded and generic keywords and others.

Nice to see you're taking action OP.
I've said for years quality is better than quantity for long term planning.

This is how the internal linking should be done ! :)
