What about diversification of links? How will we looks your website when you build only this links? It's better when you gain link from PR1, PR6... etc. Diversification.

First of all I suggest you to do everything manually and in a natural way. Don't be in rush creating backlinks.
Go for quality backlinks opportunity.

Some of the things I suggest you to get backlinks from (Working on 2014):-

1- Social bookmarkings - Submit your websites' posts to social bookmarking sites. Write a good short description and title for your site post and submit it to social bookmarking sites.

2- Build Profile pages - Profile pages also can give you good quality backlinks. There are many community websites those allow you to put your website link on the profile page. Never spam them.

3- Build a number of buffer sites- Buffer sites refers to the web 2.0 sites or you can say free blogging sites. Create your own network of 20-25 free blogs on High PR platforms. Post good quality niche articles to the blogs and link back to your main site.

4- Blog posts - Find your niche related blogs. Some blogs allow you a blog posts in exchange of a backlink. You have to write a 600+ words well researched post for them and they will give you a link from the post. It may cost you $15 - $25 for acquiring a single link but one one link is of worth while. You can build 2-4 links a month and it is enough.

5- Blog comment - Commenting on peoples blog is a great way to get a good backlink. Find high PR blogs and write quality comment on them and you will get a backlink.

6- Analyze competetitors baklinks - The best way to find backlinks opportunity is to track your competetitors. Search on ahrefs, moz or any backlinks checkers tool to find the backlinks of your competetitors. And try to build backlinks on the same plartforms for better results.

What he means is that if you build quality links, other people will link to you and you don't have create any backlinks yourself.

Manual submission is good for ranking your sites. Try all the possible methods for this. Some of them include, forum, article sharing, commenting, bookmarking etc.

On page seo has become more important than off page seo. Keyword research, unique and optimized content, proper inner links distribution, regular updates, and so on. Start from here then go for backlinks. Also don't forget about social media.

Link building is still important and works well as long as you aren't a spammer. If you are a brand or set up your site for the long haul building links is a important part of SEO still. It is about good quality links and not quantity.
