Link buidling for multi niche site?

Hi

I have a multi niche site which provide articles under following categories.

Life hacks
Money tips
Business tips

I wasn't able to find a good way to create backlinks for my site. Can anyone suggest me a good way. I don't have money to buy backlinks. So it will be great if you can suggest me free and manual methods

You can find forums to market your site on, with signature, profile link, or in post link.

What is your opinion about selecting two competitive niches.

I am studying in a university and i have the access to the library. That's why i thought those categories will be better
