a quick question

When getting link backs should I get the link keyword to go but to the product page? or just to the home page?

EG

keyword link back ->"TFT Monitors" - links to - homepage.com

or

keyword link back ->"TFT Monitors" - links to - homepage.com/TFTmonitors

Does it matter? or would I be ranked higher for link back to the actual product page instead of the domain?

Yes it matters hugely. Pages rank individually. Your home page should have links that describe the broad category of your website. Your product page should have links that describe that product.

As a guide, 50-80% of your anchor text should be the keyword you are optimizing for, the rest diversified.

keyword link back ->"TFT Monitors" - links to - homepage.com/TFTmonitors is correct.

definitely work on your deeplinking. you want all of the pages in your website to have some solid backlinks.

ok, I've mainly been building keywords to the root domain. but i guess i should change this.

its just I'm ranked Th for the root on the keyword but on Page 6 for the homepage.com/TFTmonitors

so its a bit of a crapper! if you know what i mean. I'm stuck in two minds.

Should i build more links to the root or start building the /TFTMonitor...

Don't worry, building backlinks to the homepage wouldn't have done any harm. The more optimized your homepage is, naturally the better your subpages will rank anyway. If you start building backlinks to /TFTMonitor now, you will see a significant increase in SERPs.

Maybe this advice can help:
If you build backlinks for your main page, the benefit is:
1.increase SERPS, helping your site rank in google
2.get high pr
3.you can even sell blogroll as an extra income
But since you are selling product, i think you have to targeted a related traffic.
