Today i've been browsing my own newsfeed and it appears some of the "likes" are no longer clickable, in that it just says User likes XXXX on Sitename - Like but you cant actually click the XXXXX or Sitename.

Code:
hxxp://img835.imageshack.us/img835/1700/facebooklike1.jpg

As you can see there, the first "like" is not a hyperlink at all, but the next one from a different user is.

Code:
hxxp://img828.imageshack.us/img828/5776/facebooklike2.jpg
Again, as you see above, the Santander Students is clearly a hyperlink, but the "Its fucked" is a official technical..." is not.

Am I going on about something everybody already knows about?

facebook is going after all these like websites because they think they have no real content :(

Is this standard for all external Like Websites or only for those reported as being abusive? I seriously doubt it is for all external websites, as this linking mechanism is a huge driving force behind FB's Open Graph API.

I was getting lot of traffic since a month and fb disabled the outgoing links for my site yesterday. Fb is getting more strict nowadays

It is not a rule for all websites, just the flagged ones.

i second that, its just for those which are flagged or reported, many still work

I created a like site 2 days ago, and the links doesnt work anymore.. it sucks, doesnt sends any traffic and I dont think its a reported site... So not sure whats going on

Hi All,

The Like button is designed to make your website more social and allow users to share substantive content with their friends. Websites without content will still be able to implement the Like button, but the resulting story will not result in a link to the website, as user behavior indicates they are liking a concept rather than substantive content on a website.

Thanks,

Sara Brooks

It's for ALL websites for the purpose of just liking texts...They ban them one after another

yep.. they suck they are banning them left right and center, just another dead FB method.

wow they are fast... seems like facebook will drop people who abuse it radically... i guess noobs will drop out

Wait..."liking texts?" You mean liking a virtual fan page or actually liking a REAL external website? It would make no sense for them to disable hyperlinks for external websites that play by the rules.

yeah, earlier came across a site which use short urls such as bit.ly to post their links. But after few days, facebook even remove the link of that short urls. crazy though as they can go to the extream to even make the short urls unclickable considering the short url links are never ending..

Yea, unfortunately FB is owning the game right now, just like I guessed they would. :(

Of course I was just trying to "start hype," increase my post count, and "appear cool" on BHW when I warned about these changes about a month prior to them happening. It had NOTHING to do with the fact that it was simply an educated guess based on my 10+ years of Internet Marketing experience that actually proved to be true. [/sarcasm]

Ah well, more room for the experienced and people with deep pockets. :D

well experienced people will make more money for sure there is no if or but to that . i do thing new things will keep on coming out for the noobs as well it has been like this allways i know it is hard now but still i do feel new stuff will come out.
