Likes from hashtags

I've seen people on instagram get more likes than me on pictures even though they have less followers than me (15k). How is this possible, they told me they get it from hashtags, but I've used the same hashtags but havn't gotten close to thousand likes! While, they easily get thousands of them on every picture. Just like this guy https://www.instagram.com/_playstation.gaming_/

How is this happening?

-Ig throttles your account
-they delete photos that dont get great engagement/hit explore

So if my account has some pictures with low engagement, none of my pictures will go on explorers page?
 
No, its just makes his account look better by deleting pictures that dont do well.
 
Hashtags help just get the trending ones on your niche
 
But that still cant explain a thousand likes on that small following of his. I've never reached that many likes with my followings and hashtags even though my following is bigger than him. And when I asked him how he just says it's just the hashtags

then its either bought likes, engagement groups or power likes.
 
Alright, but I've also heard about people here on BHW that make 1000 followers in a day on small accounts, how do they do it? I'm on 15k and I make roughly around 500 followers a day

just by manually following/unfollowing on the app when they are starting up. But I don't think your growth is bad either. You are getting 15k followers per month with the rate of 500 followers/day

Having more followers, doesn't automatically mean you will have more likes, it also matters how 'organically' you obtained the followers.

Looking at his account I don't think hashtags are relevant at all for his success in likes. He is probably in some engagement groups and getting some power likes to boost him into explore.
