I had a nice post written out but I keep hitting the moderation system so I've had to dumb it down a bit. Long story short is that I have a forum which has about 80 members which post on a daily basis. The site's about a week old and is gradually generating more and more traffic but Adsense decided to ban me, so I'm looking at alternatives. Anyone got any ideas?

    Apologies for the brief post.

The site's niche is videogaming in general. Very broad, I know, but it's good practice for when I find a more specific niche to get in to. I've got a Chitika ad on it but as the site has such low throughput it seems rather pointless at the moment. I've also read elsewhere about creating Chitika ads with images? Has anyone done this before?

All I'm getting at the moment is ads that are directly search related to the page that the community is viewing, which seems a bit pointless as they're already there.

Has anyone had and decent success with Chikita?

Have you tried gaming-specific advertising networks? Ad4Game, Ad2Games, EpicGameAds to name a few. They used to have a decent CPM. Also, I know there are some online games especially MMOs that have affiliate programs which pay per signup. Can't remember any right now, but they're only a Google search away.

Also, maybe banners of CPA offers for a free PS3, Xbox or whatever is the coolest console nowadays. You can use OfferVault to find offers for these.

I think selling them a related product to your niche is the way to go.

Try Infolinks, they are somewhat better than Adbrite, Kontera and Chitika

You can also search for Video game affiliate programs and post their banners/text links on your forum.

Thanks for the replies. I've currently got a Chitika banner at the top of my page and a small ad that appears on mobile devices. So far I've got 2,6k impressions with zero clicks. I'm going to let it run for a while as I only added the code this morning but it seems that the ads are completely irrelevant or simply offer shortcuts to search for the site my visitors are viewing.

A few other questions I'm hoping you might be able to help out with:

I had a load of bots sign up, probably close to 200 in a week's time, the majority of them registered with Russian email addresses. I've enabled a captcha and deleted all the bot accounts, but could this harm my traffic? The bots didn't post or anything (yet) so would leaving them active increase traffic at all?

I understand that there are ways to improve the flow to my site. At the moment if I search for my site it doesn't show up at all, at least for the first 10 pages or so (I'm yet to see it, that's as far as I looked) but are there ways of improving this?

Right so for what it's worth, here's a bit of an update:

Last 4 days, 9157 impressions with a whopping THREE clicks. They might even have all been me. Overall, not impressed. Having said that, the way Chitika works is that it displays results based on what you searched before heading over to my site.

Now my site isn't even ranked yet. The community is all from people I know or people that know those people. As the site is a forum, Chitika's results are all the same:

"Search for x here" - with x being the current topic or forum title.

Now obviously I'm not getting any results here because of a few factors, the first being that my site doesn't show up in any search results (yet) and the second being that it's a forum.

I suspect that Chitika can be fairly decent under the right circumstances but unfortunately I'm unable to meet the criteria for to make it successful with my current portfolio of one website.

Maybe one day I'll be able to see results from it but for now 100% of my revenue is coming in from a donate button and some generous members in my community.

If anyone has any other tips I'd be glad to hear them as I'm determined to make some money online but since my Adsense account has been banned I'm not really sure what direction to go in.

Have you tried Amazon banners? They have pre made ones for the niche you are in.

2nd best option probably. I used to use Bidtraffic but never liked their interface or choice of ads at all. Adsense is the main player out there, and after it is probably Chitika. Make sure not to get banned from them though :p

Clapham- Did you know Chitika has a Referral Program where you can earn 10% for 10 months for every new publisher you send to Chitika? Check it out!
