License for auction site - ebay style

I have this great idea of building an auction website just like ebay but it is not worldwide. It is for a certain state in my country. It is not actually a very big website but it may be helpful for others to use. We actually have this kind of site here but it really sucks and we hate it.

I'm wondering do you need a proper license for this kind of website? Please share your experience if you have been building a website like this before, thanks for reading.

I'm not sure but I think you can sell anything wtih PayPal and a website as long as there is a cart system and stuff like that.

I do not need to sell anything. Other people will upload their item for sell. I just own the website

Whether you need a license or not depends on the laws of the city,state and country you are living in. You should contact a lawyer in your local area, especially if you live place that has a reputation for strong business licensing requirements.

Nobody on BHW will be able to answer that. You haven''t stated your city/state, nor exactly what type of site etc. And no, don't count on BHW Answers for "legal" issues lol. Go contact a local lawyer, tell him what your website is about and whether you need and papers for such a website.

Would you be willing to put your site/business at risk by relying on BHW Answers when it comes to legal issues? I'd say NO
