Leveraging Incoming Affiliate Links for SEO

I've been fooling around with affiliate programs on some of my sites, and have noticed a decent amount of links coming in from people who are interested in promoting my products. These links are in some prominent locations, a lot are "do-follow," the anchor texting is decent, and I really want to know if there's a way to leverage these incoming links for SEO.

The way the link looks is MySite.com/go/jump?id=#####&aff_id=#####/

Is there a way to keep the affiliate system working, while leveraging the strength/value of that link to push up the main product page in the SERPS?

I've looked around on here and in Google, but haven't really found anything. It doesn't seem like that unique of an idea, so I'm hoping someone has some advice.

I saw some articles on seomoz and the like that say they do appear to pass some juice if they are followed links. Obviously I am not 100% sure on this but I dont think it can hurt, plus more affiliates typically means more sales..so either way its a win.

This is a complex one, as it has to be handled properly or your will trash your site.

It depends on the keywords and the content relevance to where, how and what your product is being linked to and how many of them there are over time.

Do the research on where those links are coming from and what keywords they are being pushed, linked and connected through and plant main site pages on your domain to focus on those same keywords that are again, ' market relevant ' and you will then be able to pull juice from the search engines with CONTENT pages, such as information articles...let the affiliate sales pages do the selling.


Also, this is a legal white hat technique that I've used in my business programs for years and has never given me trouble. As long as you use it this way, you should be fine to.

There is a possibility to create a tracking system based on referring domains. That means affiliates will need to register their domains inside your affiliate program and link to you with naked url, only. This way you get the best benefit.

This can be done without issue through the affiliate tracking code being put into the affiliate sales link code itself and save the trouble of the double or extended registration requirements.
